While I was visiting the Institut Pasteur in Paris, the lab was well represented at EEID 2026 that we organized at Virginia Tech!

  • Ben Bruncati from Michael Robert's lab presented their work on "Incorporating Thermal Performance Curves into Population Dynamic Models for the West Nile Vector, Culex Pipiens".

  • Gavyn Sanford, MS student from the lab co-mentored with Gillian Eastwood, presented a poster on "Mosquito Diversity, Host-Feeding Patterns, and Arbovirus Surveillance in Western Virginia".

  • Anna Pérez-Umphrey, post-doc in our Dana Hawley's lab gave a talk on our collaborative work with Nisha Duggal, which includes lab tech Shajaesza Diggs.

  • John Muller from Jonathan Auguste's lab presented a poster entitled "Mosquito Community Structure, Host Use, and Environmental Drivers Across an Elevational Gradient in Virginia".

  • Krisangel Lopez also from Jonathan's lab presented a poster entitled "Isolation of a Reassortant Jamestown Canyon Virus, Flanders Hepavirus and Various InsectSpecific Viruses Across Virginia".

Well done everyone! I was sad to miss the EEID conference but I had an awesome time in Paris!
