While I was visiting the Institut Pasteur in Paris, the lab was well represented at EEID 2026 that we organized at Virginia Tech!
Ben Bruncati from Michael Robert's lab presented their work on "Incorporating Thermal Performance Curves into Population Dynamic Models for the West Nile Vector, Culex Pipiens".
Gavyn Sanford, MS student from the lab co-mentored with Gillian Eastwood, presented a poster on "Mosquito Diversity, Host-Feeding Patterns, and Arbovirus Surveillance in Western Virginia".
Anna Pérez-Umphrey, post-doc in our Dana Hawley's lab gave a talk on our collaborative work with Nisha Duggal, which includes lab tech Shajaesza Diggs.
John Muller from Jonathan Auguste's lab presented a poster entitled "Mosquito Community Structure, Host Use, and Environmental Drivers Across an Elevational Gradient in Virginia".
Krisangel Lopez also from Jonathan's lab presented a poster entitled "Isolation of a Reassortant Jamestown Canyon Virus, Flanders Hepavirus and Various InsectSpecific Viruses Across Virginia".
Well done everyone! I was sad to miss the EEID conference but I had an awesome time in Paris!
