As Europe experiences another intense heat wave, understanding how mosquitoes respond and adapt to thermal stress and heat exposure is becoming increasingly important.
I am excited to share this new preprint, the result of a fantastic collaboration led by Mariangela Bonizzoni's lab! A huge thank you to all collaborators and co-authors who contributed to this work and a special shout out to Helle Aronson from the lab for her outstanding contribution to this project!
➡️ In this work, we explore how prolonged heat exposure can shape mosquito biology and influence traits linked to environmental resilience. This project focuses on the highly invasive Aedes albopictus species and combines experimental evolution, physiology, mathematical modeling and genomics to better understand how mosquito populations may respond to our rapidly changing climate.
