It is mosquito season! Clement (another postdoctoral researcher in the lab) and I went to Eastern Washington to collect mosquitoes and orchid scents!
Platanthera obtusata, or how to look for a needle in a haystack.

Clement, installing a CO2 trap to collect mosquitoes

Checking on the mosquitoes we collected. These guys are pretty sensitive to heat and desiccation so we transport them in a cooler containing ice packs.

Now, back in the lab, it is time for some plant scent analyses and experiments with the mosquitoes!
